Abstract
Capsaicin and its derivatives are the pungent, comporents of hot red pepper. and are used as a codiment. Iwai et al. observed that capsaicin enhanced energy metabolism and stimulated catecholamine secretion from the adrenal medulla. The present study was included in order to clarify further detailed effect of capsaicin l on body fat mobilization. Capsaicin reduced the weight of perirenal adipose tissue and triglycerides level, while increased respiratory quotient, oxygen consumption and non-esterified free fatty acids by capsaicin supplementation.
Recently, capsaicin containing diet was fed to the rats. and catecholamines contents in inter-scapular brown adipose tissue(IBAT) was measured by HPLC. and adrenolectomy eas undertaken in order to clarify the role of [BAT on noradrenaline release and to exclude the effect of adrenals.
Dietary capsaicin had an enhancing effect of noradrenaline level in IBAT and energy metabolism.
The important role of brown adipose tissue on repressing the fat deposition was confirmed by the experiment of adrenolectomy.
